Back at the start of the month, Date night just so happened to be gig night when Katy and myself went off to see Tourist at King Tuts Wah Wah Hut. Okay Now I know this is a few weeks late, but the truth of the matter is I’m lazy. Yet again I am losing my ways but I feel as though it was too good a night not to talk about it.
Tourist. Were do I even start. I seem to lack the words to comprehensively describe and discuss him. Maybe this blog post was a bad idea after all. I will describe his music in three words. The same three words I use to describe it to everybody. Sad Dance Music. I’ve no idea where I even came across that term, if I was to hazard a guess it was deep in the depths of related music on Soundcloud. But Sad Dance Music is the perfect way to describe it.
Take what you will from that, but you should definitely give it a listen. Its good, it’s synthy and it’s sad. What more could you want? To be completely honest it isn’t even that sad, it is more chilled out, In the realms of Bonobos early stuff if you are interested in the slightest.
Back to the night itself though and it was an incredible night. I have never had a good night in King Tuts, I never thought it was for me but Tourist has changed that for me. Even though I am pretty sure we were the only people dancing in the whole cupboard that is classed as a venue. We had a great time although the set seemed fairly short, But how many gigs do you come out of feeling satisfied with how long it was. It never seems quite long enough; you are always left wanting more.
I don’t really know where to end this post. In the weeks prior to the gig I was working hard trying to get an interview with William on the night (Tourist). I was trying my hardest to try and make it happen. So in comparison to the one I had in mind this seems rather shit so I will end this here.
