It is slowly becoming a Christmas tradition for me to get a collection of books as gifts. Growing up I was never a big reader; my younger self would be disgraced to think I was getting books for Christmas. But now I think it is one of the best gifts to get each year, I very rarely treat myself to a new book so this is always such a treat.
Just like last year I created an amazon wish list with a handful of books that my parents could pick at random, so on the day it would still be a surprise as to what I got. Below are the books that I actually received and I can’t wait to start reading them.
The Rum Diary by Hunter S. Thompson
Bright Lights, Big City by Jay McInerney
The Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac
Redshirts by John Scalzi
The Photographer’s Playbook by Jason Fulford
The New Ghost by Rob Hunter
Truths, Half Truths and Little White Lies by Nick Frost
Some of these I have wanted to read for a while like “The Dharma Bums” by Jack Kerouac and others I was simply drawn in by the cover like “Bright Lights, Big City” by Jay McInerney. I even received “The New Ghost” by Rob Hunter, this is actually my first graphic novel and although it is short I think it has only sparked my interest and love for them.
I hope everybody had a wonderful Christmas and has a great new year! Have you read any of these? Let me know in the comments below.
