I recently heard about Parabo Press, a somewhat new printing service that is completely app orientated and I thought I would give it a try. I decided to get one of my photos from when I visited the National Museum of Scotland printed a few months ago printed as a newsprint.
The Newsprint is a 17” x 22” full colour print that on Extra light ivory paper that has been folded into quarters. It features as standard a 1cm border around the image, which really makes it pop and also means you can hang it up without obscuring the image. The Newsprint is normally £18 with £4 postage which I personally felt was a good price, especially with the quick turn around times.
With this being the first time I have used Parabo Press I was unsure of what to expect. My first impressions were somewhat lacklustre. Initially I was disappointed with the quality of the print, it just doesn’t seem sharp. This is one of the sharpest images I have and I just don’t think it looks that great printed out at this size. Maybe this is to do with the photo I chose to get printed, maybe one of my other photos would have looked better, who knows?
The quality of the packing however is something else. Although being shipped in an ordinary jiffy bag the print itself is enclosed in this lovely cardboard envelope. Printed all over with this floral design with central Parabo Press Logo. Inside there was a compliments card continuing the floral design which was a very nice touch. Even down to the vibrant piece of card to ensure the envelope doesn’t bend. Overall the brand image is faultless and I feel as though many brands out there should follow suit with this standard of packaging and presentation.
If I were to try them out again I think I would definitely be going for an Engineer Print. A 4 x 3 Feet print that is printed on an industrial sized printer, typically used for architectural work. Something about that really grabs me and I just want to try it out. As this Service is completely app orientated you can only order your prints through their app. Despite this being well designed and easy to navigate, at times I felt it was a bit clunky and unresponsive, so just keep that in mind when ordering.
